2nd GIMP Tesy

The above is brought to you by GIMP. Since upgrading to a Windows 10 machine, I had intended to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop as well, but alas Photoshop has gone to a lease model and that just grates.  I can understand the benefits, but I’m kind of old school when it comes to property.  I never understood the point of leasing a car, especially when it seemed to cost more than just buying one, and I can’t bring myself to lease software when in the past I could own it.

So I’m searching for a substitute.  GIMP is free and I’ve been told that it is close enough to Photoshop that once I get used to some of the differences I’ll have no trouble adapting.  We’ll see.

Anyway, this is the first result.  A bit garish perhaps, but it’s early days.

  1. Nice shot. We’re looking for options as well. I feel the up-front purchase is sufficient, and I really am not about to be forced pay an ongoing monthly charge and essentially held hostage to them to protect my older files. (This more severely impacts the rest of the Adobe Suite — Illustrator, InDesign, etc, but the concept is similar).

    1. And I was just getting handy with Photoshop 7 (grin). At first glance the GIMP interface looks very similar to Photoshop, but the labels mean slightly different things and not all the toggles are as intuitive, but I’m starting to learn. I do, however, feel like I’m starting all over.
